Quotes from this video
A man named Edward Bernays pioneered the term “public relations” and was the father of modern propaganda techniques and advertising. His vision transformed advertising from fulfilling need, to creating desire. He also happened to be the nephew of Sigmund Freud.
The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society.” “Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.” “We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes are formed, or ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.” -Edward Bernays
What the corporations realized they had to do was transform the way the majority of Americans thought about products. One leading Wall Street banker, Paul Mazer of Lehman Brothers, was clear about what was necessary. We must shift America, he wrote, from a needs to a desires culture. People must be trained to desire, to want new things even before the old had been entirely consumed. We must shape a new mentality in America. Man’s desires must overshadow his needs.

The credibility of this series of films is seriously hurt by the inclusion of interviews with Henry Makow. His writings indicate that he would like to deprive half the world of their freedoms. That makes his warnings of tyranny sound empty and hollow indeed.
