“and the debunkers have an explanation and I’ve heard it.. That’s because …all that tabloid nonsense, not only the newspapers, tabloid television shows and all this kind of stuff…Testable hypothesis. If that were true then one would certainly expect that the greater the education the less likely to believe in flying saucers, right? Presumably the greater the education the less likely to be influenced by the tabloids. Well. Ok. Testable hypothesis, and I use ‘78 data because they broke down the educational level of the respondents into three groups. These are adults with a grade school, high school, and college background. Now with a grade school background it is true that the non believers slightly out number the believers. Yet, a high school diploma and it’s 2 to 1, better than 2 to 1, believers over non believers. The shocker is that with a college background it’s almost 3 to 1 66 to 23. The greater the education, the more likely to believe in flying saucers.”
